Biospheric City Lab is a boutique platform dedicated to pioneering sustainable strategies and solutions for cities and the built environment. We see cities as living, evolving interconnected systems where social, spatial, and environmental factors shape the urban experience. Through our multidisciplinary approach, we help cities create innovative, regenerative, and people & planet centered solutions that drive long-term sustainability and resilience.

Biosphere originates from Greek combining bíos which means life and sphaira which means sphere.

The Biosphere is a global ecosystem. It is the sum of all ecosystems composed of living organisms and nonliving factors, from which they derive energy and nutrients. The Biosphere is virtually a closed circular system with minimal inputs and outputs, a self-regulating system that is close to equilibrium.

Founder & Director

Dima Al Srour

Dima is a city strategist and a creative thought leader, building bridges through urban planning, design & sustainability. She has experience in multi-scalar, interdisciplinary and complex projects. Dima believes that innovation is the result of deep interdisciplinary interactions. She brings a wealth of knowledge from professional practice in the public & private sectors as well as academia on the science of cities, sustainability, circular development & sustainable business models.
Dima has worked on the planning & implementation of spatial framework plans & 2030 visions at a city/ Emirate level as well as large mixed use Master Plans with multi-modal transport hubs. She is currently a lecturer in Urban Planning & Development at the Sorbonne University in Abu Dhabi.
